  1. Who takes care of the hounds?
    Usually the Huntsman is in charge of the day to day care of the pack, but, if the Huntsman is an Amateur then the hunt may have a Kennel-Huntsman or Kennelman.

  2. What does a fox scent smell like?
    When the temperature rises and the scent is high, you can smell a fox (a mild skunk like smell).

  3. What should my child wear to go hunting?
    Ratcatcher is always proper, but older juniors sometimes wear the same attire as ladies and gentlemen. See our Protocol page for more information.

  4. Do you kill the foxes?
    In the United States we do not emphasize the kill (which usually does not happen). Our emphasis is on the chase, afterward the fox is either lost or put to ground.

  5. How many hounds do you take hunting?
    That depends on the day, weather, scenting conditions, country to be hunted, but the average taken by FHC is 15 1/2 couple (31 Hounds).
